Travel Update: EU Entry/Exit System Causing Airport Delays


The EES introduced new border processing requirements for non-EU travellers, including biometric data collection such as fingerprints and facial recognition, which have been effectively operating from 10th April 2026. While designed to enhance security and improve efficiency over time, the rollout phase has resulted in longer processing times at passport control.

Airports across Europe are adjusting to the new system, with early reports indicating wait times of up to four to six hours in some locations.
