At Orbit World Travel, sustainability isn’t just something we talk about – it’s something we put into action. Recently, members of our team joined forces with Ecotricity NZ, Auckland Council, and a number of like-minded organisations to support the Mahurangi Land Restoration Programme in Warkworth.
On a crisp winter morning, our very own Nicola Teal, GM Orbit Auckland Groups & Events, Business Development, and Anna Marshall, House of Travel Sustainability Programme Manager, rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on planting day. Alongside volunteers from across Auckland, they helped plant 900 native trees – an effort that will contribute to restoring biodiversity, protecting waterways, and creating a healthier environment for future generations. 🌿
Why This Matters
Native planting programmes like Mahurangi’s play a vital role in addressing the impacts of climate change, improving soil and water quality, and creating habitats for wildlife. For us at Orbit, supporting initiatives like these is about walking the talk when it comes to our commitment to sustainability. Travel connects people to the world, and we want to ensure the world we connect them to thrives long into the future.
Collaboration in Action
This event was a great example of what can be achieved when businesses, local councils, and communities work together. Planting 900 trees in a single day is no small feat, and it was inspiring to see so many passionate individuals contributing their time and energy to make a difference.
Looking Ahead
As part of the House of Travel Group Sustainability Programme, we’re continuously looking at ways we can reduce our footprint, support local projects, and encourage travellers to make more sustainable choices. From carbon measurement tools to community initiatives, every step counts.
We’re proud to have been part of this day and look forward to supporting more initiatives that bring people together for the planet.
A small step. A big impact. And a reminder that when we all do our part, the results can be extraordinary.
